I just re-read this book because I had no idea what was going on in Dark Age and need more information before I read Light Bringer. SPOILERS! I wanted to talk about the part where Darrow has himself whipped for the guy in the group's attempt at a g*r*ape just because he is the leader of the group. I thought this was a super interesting writing choice and it really caught my attention. It says a lot about the author's philosophy of leadership in real life as well.

This book was so predictable. I noticed early on that Hawke would disappear whenever some evil was happening and then magically show up wayyyyy overdue. He was obviously that prince guy

I was not a fan of this author's writing. At one point, there was a whole paragraph about the female main character being obsessed with the male love interest's sweat and that was too far for me. Also, why does the author need to note that fae can SMELL when a woman is turned on? That was a choice I could not get behind. 3 out of 5 stars

the ending of this was crazyyyyyyyyyyyy. I am not sure it was for me. 3.5 out of 5 stars

3/28/25 I finished dark age and I fell in love with Lysander's character. He gets more attention in this book than he did in Iron Gold. He just seems so innocent even though he was born into a brutal family. I enjoyed dark age way more than Iron Gold, but I still was used to Darrow. I did not really care for Lyria or Ephriam, but that may be because there was a long break between me reading morning star and these books. I plan on rereading the entire series. 4.5 out of 5 stars
